Welcome to the Data Collection and Utilisation Working Group Resource Centre
The centre serves as a centralised and growing repository of key resources surrounding data collection and utilisation in the tower industry.
Face to face meeting feedback and working group action plan
Over the course of 2019, TowerXchange and Analysys Mason worked together to host a series of working groups focussed around data collection and utilisation in the tower industry. The groups revealed a clear set of challenges faced by tower operators in using data support their business goals and identified a wish list of issues to be addressed by the industry. Here we summarise the findings of the working group and share the action points for 2020.
Towerco data management: improving relationships with MNOs
In May-June 2019, Analysys Mason conducted a survey of 48 towercos and MNO tower management teams to identify their top asset management objectives as well as top drivers and barriers to investing in data management systems. Off the back of these findings, Analysys Mason derived a set of recommendations for the industry.
There are many aspects to tower data collection and analysis, but feedback indicates that there is only fragmented awareness of the products and services that are available, and how they map to each individual process. A clearer classification of products and services would help towercos make informed decisions about the tools that would best suit their needs, and the kind of vendor partnership they would prefer. A key first action point of the Data Collection and Utilisation Working Group, coordinated by TowerXchange and Analysys Mason, focusses on the production of this industry approved taxonomy to which existing products on the market will be mapped. View the draft taxonomy and provide your feedback.
