The MNO has sold over 3,200 sites to American Tower in a strategy shift while preparing for a 5G future

Last December, Entel announced the long-awaited sale of more than 3,200 towers to American Tower for a total price of US$772mn. The deal is the first sizeable sale and leaseback for the MNO and marks a new era of collaboration, as the company will increase its engagement with towercos in preparation for 5G. TowerXchange spoke with Entel’s Manager of Projects and Planning, Francisco Basoalto, to hear more about the deal’s driver and discuss the company plans for its remaining 3,800 sites in Chile and Peru.
