TowerXchange Meetup Africa returned to the Sandton Convention Centre for our 11th annual gathering on the 17-18th October 2023. Despite the buzz of the conference, it was clear that 2023 had been one of the toughest years for the tower industry on record. Despite this, we saw over 260 senior delegates from across the African tower ecosystem with representatives from 29 towercos and MNOs in attendance, all keen to explore the best ways to manage their growing list of pain points and industry challenges.
This report details the key takeaways we heard from industry leaders and CXOs from across the African tower industry including the continents biggest towercos IHS Towers, Helios Towers, American Tower, SBA Communications. While the discussion unsurprisingly focused on cost of capital and economic headwinds, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
